#was I a wicked wife?
left coast living

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Joe & I vacationed in Berkeley, California. After a trying 15-hour journey through RIC, ORD, & SFO (love you too, United! I knew I shouldn’t have cheated on Southwest), Joe’s sister Ellie and her husband John welcomed us to their charming new home in Berkeley.

These picture hardly do their gorgeous, historic (1930’s era) home justice. The chair pictured above is a gorgeous blue and white toile; I am now on a mission to find a similar substitute for my home. Such is life for those cursed with caviar taste on a tuna fish budget.

We came to Berkeley to relax, enjoy one another’s company, and take a brief respite from the constant upheaval of late (we’ll have moved twice in three months soon!), but mostly we came for this:

Please meet Mateo, and his friends Mac & Cheese. Mateo is Ellie & John’s 9 month old son, who happens to be mercilessly adorable. I DIE OF CUTE.

In between ogling Mateo, we managed to take in quite a few sights, sounds, and tastes of Berkeley and the City by the Bay. Joe made us dinner with booty from the Berkeley Farmer’s Market, we visited Napa, strolled through the Cal campus, ate at Boulette’s Larder (where we sat at the chef’s table and snapped a verboten picture of owner/executive chef Amaryll Schwertner [below]), Pizzaiolo, & Aziza, and decided we might become semi-permanent left coasters at some time in our future.

je serai une meilleure blogger, je le jure

Blogging while maintaining a big girl job is like, hard, okay?! Specially when combined with moving twice in two months, taking a west coast vacay (#firstworldproblems), and having tons of awesome real life friends to hang out with.

However, since Joe and I are relocating to a semi-permanent residence in 9 days (yay!!!) and Richmond Public Schools will close for summer soon (thereby freeing up my education-non-profit-working-girl-schedule a bit) I should be able to post more frequently in the coming months. I’m also going to start writing for GayRVA as their resident foodie! So be on the lookout for those as well.

This post is mainly for my BFFAE Laura who loves to complain about my lack of posts. Hey girl hey! I will soon give you something fill your work days, besides cursing pharma reps under your breath and bemoaning your ivy league education. JK, JK, complain all you want. LYLAS! (yes I just went there)
